Day 01: International Arrival in Delhi
Welcome to Delhi! Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be traditionally greeted and transferred to your hotel. After a smooth check-in, relax in your room and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. In the evening, immerse yourself in the cultural experience with an Odissi Dance performance before retiring for the night.
Day 02: Flight from Delhi to Raipur & Drive to Bhoramdeo
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and head to the airport for your flight to Raipur. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Jungle Retreat in Bhoramdeo, with lunch on the way. Upon reaching, check-in to the ethnic village resort and take a short walk to visit the ancient Bhoramdeo Temple for the evening prayers. Along the way, you will encounter the beautiful Gond Tribal women, known for their vibrant culture. In the evening, enjoy a Baiga Tribal Dance (subject to availability) before dinner and a restful night at the retreat.
Day 03: Bhoramdeo & Gond Village Exploration
Start your day with a homemade breakfast in authentic Chhattisgarhi village style. Today, explore the nearby Gond villages, such as Rajpur, Katgo, and Harmo. Enjoy a picnic lunch or dine at a local village dhaba. If you’re fortunate, you may have the opportunity to witness the Madai Festival, a significant event for the Baiga Tribe at Bokkar Khar Village. Known as "the people of the forest," the Baiga tribe thrives on forest products and practices shifting cultivation. Return to the resort in the evening to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Day 04: Bhoramdeo to Raipur
After breakfast, explore the famous Bhoramdeo Temples, often referred to as the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh. These temples, dating back to 1100 AD, are older than those in Khajuraho and are dedicated to Lord Shiva. The complex consists of four temples, with the main one built from stone. Later, visit the Thua Pani village of the Baiga Tribe and a pottery workshop in Amaroda village. After lunch, check out from the resort and drive to Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Check-in to your hotel in Raipur by the evening.
Day 05: Rajim Maghi Mela & Kanker
Post-breakfast, drive to Rajim to experience the Rajim Maghi Mela, also known as Rajim Kumbh Mela, a religious and cultural gathering where pilgrims and saints take holy baths and perform various rituals. This festival offers a vibrant blend of India’s diverse cultures, with colorful monks and pilgrims. Afterward, continue your journey to Kanker, stopping for lunch at Lover's Point near Kurud. En route, visit Charama village to observe the Gond and Yadav communities making Bidis, a type of local cigarette. Continue to Kanker, known for its stunning natural beauty, and check into a heritage hotel, once a royal palace.
Day 06: Kanker, Ghotul & Madai Festival
Today, drive to tribal villages to witness the fascinating Ghotul performance by the Muria Tribe. Ghotul, a social institution for young boys and girls, is where they live together before marriage and engage in various cultural activities, including dances like Hulki and Gedi. Later, head to Gobrahin for the Madai Festival, a religious celebration by the Bastar tribes, featuring processions, prayers, folk dances, and colorful attires. Return to Kanker Palace after the festival for the night.
Day 07: Kanker to Jagdalpur
After breakfast, bid farewell to your hosts and drive towards Jagdalpur, stopping en-route to visit the villages of Deer Horn Muria Tribe. Engage with the colorful Muria tribes, known for their hospitable nature. Also, visit Kondagaon Village, renowned for its Dokra art. Arrive in Jagdalpur, check in to your hotel, and enjoy a regional Bastar dinner.
Day 08: Jagdalpur to Rayagada
Drive to the Bison Horn Maria Tribe villages and witness the mesmerizing Bison Horn Maria Dance, one of the most spectacular tribal performances in Chhattisgarh. After the dance, visit Chitrakote Waterfalls, often referred to as the Niagara Falls of India. Continue your journey to Rayagada, making stops at Nagarnar village to see the Bhatra and Dhurwa tribes, and visit Kotapad weaving village. Arrive in Rayagada, check-in, and relax for the evening.
Day 09: Puttasing & Lanjia Saora Tribe
Embark on an excursion to Puttasing, the heart of the Lanjia Saura tribe kingdom, where you’ll visit their weekly tribal market. Interact with the Lanjia Saora tribe, known for their beautiful earrings and nose rings. Later, visit the Lanjia Saora villages to admire their wall paintings. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the stunning mountain landscape before returning to Rayagada.
Day 10: Rayagada to Kotagarh
After breakfast, drive to Kotagarh for a visit to the Tuesday Tribal Weekly Haat of the Kutia Kondh Tribe. Walk through the Kutia Kondh villages and observe their unique tribal lifestyle. The Kutia Kondh tribe is known for their distinctive tattoos and nose rings. After the visit, return to your hotel in Rayagada for dinner and relaxation.
Day 11: Rayagada to Semiliguda
Drive towards Semiliguda, stopping at Chatikona to witness the Dongria Kondh tribe and their weekly market. The Dongria Kondh tribe lives in the hills and leads a simple life, carrying their agricultural produce to trade. Post-lunch, proceed through Desia Kondh villages before reaching your hotel in Semiliguda for a well-deserved rest.
Day 12: Onukudelli & Bonda Tribe
Today, visit Onukudelli to explore the weekly market of the Bonda and Gadaba tribes. The Bonda women are known for their unique jewelry and shaven heads. After the market visit, stop by Duduma Waterfalls for some scenic beauty, then proceed to visit the Olar Gadaba tribal village to admire their stunning attire and jewelry. Return to Semiliguda for dinner and relaxation.
Day 13: Semiliguda to Vizeg
Drive to Kunduli to visit the weekly market of the Paraja and Mali tribes, where you can see them selling vegetables and livestock. The Paraja women are adorned with nose rings and tattoos. Afterward, proceed to Vishakhapatnam, enjoying the beautiful countryside along the way. Arrive and check-in to your hotel for the night.
Day 14: Departure from Vishakhapatnam
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and our guide will transfer you to the Vishakhapatnam airport for your flight to Delhi, where you can connect to your international departure. This marks the end of your unforgettable tribal journey through Chhattisgarh and Odisha, complete with the Madai and Rajim Maghi Mela festivals.
