Day 1 : Bangalore to Kolar
We depart from Bangalore early at 6:00 am and head towards Kolar, passing through the towns of Hoskote and Kolar. We arrive at our base camp by 9:00 am. Our first stop is the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where we climb 350 steps to reach this revered site. The temple is often frequented by pilgrims from surrounding villages who come to collect water from the mysterious perennial underground stream that flows here. After visiting the temple, we venture into boulder country, navigating rocks of all shapes and sizes. Along the way, we pass through several caves, ideal for brief rest stops. As we continue, we traverse the seven villages perched on top of the mountain. The trail leads us to the summit, where we find an old fort—the highest point of the mountain. The serene lake at the top offers a perfect spot to relax and take in the peaceful ambiance.
Organic Farm Exploration
By noon, we return to the base camp where a delicious lunch awaits us at a century-old organic farm. Spread over 50 acres, the farm features banana plantations, coffee orchards, and a variety of fruit trees, offering a true taste of rural life and organic farming.
Bullock Cart Safari & Return to Bangalore
After a relaxing break, we embark on a leisurely bullock cart safari around the farm in the late afternoon. The surrounding plains have been designated a wildlife sanctuary, where blackbucks, cobras, and flying foxes roam freely. Once the safari concludes, we head back to the farm, check out, and begin our journey back to Bangalore, bringing an end to a memorable day.
