Day 1: Arrival in Paro – Transfer to Thimphu
Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by your guide at the arrival gate. From here, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital city, in a private vehicle. En route, stop at the Tachogang Lhakhang temple, founded by the revered Tibetan-Bhutanese figure, Thangtong Gyalpo. Explore this sacred site and see some of his personal belongings. After the temple visit, continue to Thimphu and check in to your hotel. You'll have time to freshen up before joining your guide for an orientation walk around Thimphu’s highlights. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, where you'll savor traditional Bhutanese dishes, including seasonal vegetables and the country's famous red rice with chili cheese.

Day 2: Explore Thimphu
After a hearty breakfast, set out on a hike from Debsi to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), home to the country’s largest Buddha statue, the Buddha Dordenma. This statue is perched atop a hill and offers stunning panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley. The hike is surrounded by colorful prayer flags fluttering in the breeze, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. After visiting Buddha Point, continue hiking through the park to reach Changangkha. After a lunch break, visit the Institute for Zorig Chusum, also known as the Arts & Crafts School, where you can watch students practicing traditional arts. Later, visit the National Library to see ancient texts and printing blocks used for prayer flags.

Day 3: Thimphu to Lobesa via Dochula Pass
Start your day with breakfast and then travel to Lobesa, passing through the scenic Dochula Pass, which sits over 3,000 meters above sea level. Here, you'll see the impressive Druk Wangyal Chortens and, on clear days, enjoy sweeping views of the Himalayas. After lunch, visit Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, a temple built to honor Bhutan's fourth king and commemorate the monarchy's centennial. Continue to the valley and hike a portion of the historic Divine Madman Trail, which commemorates Drukpa Kuenley, a Buddhist monk known for his unconventional methods. Enjoy a picturesque stop in the village of Lumitsawa for lunch, then continue walking until you reach the Thinleygang Lhakhang temple. After a visit, drive to your hotel in Lobesa for the evening.

Day 4: Lobesa to Trongsa
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Pelela Pass and rejoin the Trans Bhutan Trail, marking the boundary between western and central Bhutan. Hike along this trail, visiting the Rukubji Lhakhang temple on the way. Here, you can rest with your group while enjoying a hot lunch prepared by the locals. Later, transfer to the charming village of Chendebji, home to the Chendebji Chorten, a large white structure modeled after Nepal's Bouddhanath Stupa. Continue your journey to Trongsa, where you'll visit the magnificent Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan, perched on a cliff overlooking the Mangde Chu river gorge. Check into your hotel and relax after a full day of exploration.

Day 5: Trongsa to Bumthang
If you didn't get a chance to explore Trongsa Dzong the previous day, there's an opportunity to do so this morning. Then, drive to Yotongla Pass and continue your adventure along the Trans Bhutan Trail, hiking through serene meadows and forests before reaching the Gyaltsa River. After a break by the river, follow it until you arrive at Gyaltsa Village, where a private vehicle will be waiting to take you to Bumthang. Enjoy lunch along the trail during this scenic walk. Upon arrival in Bumthang, check into your hotel for a two-night stay. After settling in, visit the Bumthang Brewery, known for its Red Panda Beer, and Bhutan's only commercial cheese factory, both of which were established as part of a Swiss development project.

Day 6: Bumthang and Tang Valley Excursion
Begin your day with an excursion to the secluded Tang Valley, a peaceful area dotted with sacred shrines, grazing sheep, and yak herds. After reaching Tang village, embark on a short hike across a suspension bridge to visit the century-old Ugyen Choling Heritage Museum. Then, drive to Pema Choling Nunnery, where nuns follow a nine-year course in the Nyingma Peling Buddhist tradition and are known for their unique drum ceremony called "Chod." Next, head south along the Trans Bhutan Trail to the sacred Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), a site where the great treasure hunter Pema Lingpa is believed to have discovered hidden relics of Guru Rinpoche. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings, and you may even want to participate in a meditation session. Finish your hike by climbing gently through the forest to reach the village of Phomrong, where your vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel.

Day 7: Trongsa to Punakha
Today, you'll travel back to Punakha, recreating the experience of those who arrived in Trongsa on foot many years ago. Drive to Trongsa, where you'll start your hike from Trongsa Dzong, descending to the Mangde River. After crossing an old cantilever bridge, embark on a steep climb through the forest until you reach the Trongsa viewpoint. After a rest and some time at the viewpoint, drive to Punakha and check in to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after an adventurous day.

Day 8: Punakha to Paro
After breakfast, drive to Dochula Pass, where you'll begin a hike to Simtokha. This scenic path winds through charming villages and along meandering streams, offering unique glimpses into Bhutanese life and culture. The hike is one of the longer ones on this trip, so prepare for an adventurous day. After reaching Simtokha, drive to Paro. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax for the rest of the evening.

Day 9: Paro Valley Exploration
After breakfast, set out on a short hike along the Trans Bhutan Trail. Drive up to Tsendona and hike through the thin pine forests to the upper reaches of Dopshari, where you can take in the stunning views of the Paro valley. Enjoy a delicious hot lunch in the traditional village of Dopshari, where you might have a chance to sample Ema Datshi, a beloved Bhutanese dish made with chili peppers, onions, and yak cheese. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, originally built as a watchtower but now serving as the National Museum, housing an extensive collection of antique thangkas, textiles, weapons, armor, and historic artifacts. End your day by strolling around Paro's local market before heading back to the hotel.

Day 10: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery
After breakfast, lace up your hiking boots for a memorable 5-hour trek to the iconic Taktshang Monastery, also known as the 'Tiger’s Nest.' Perched on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro valley floor, this sacred site is a must-visit for all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. After exploring the monastery, visit the nearby 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of 108 temples built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to spread Buddhism across the Himalayas. After returning to your hotel, relax before joining your guide for a stroll around the streets and market area of Paro.
