Vasco da Gama, the famous explorer, was buried here in 1524.The Chinese fishing nets, called Cheenavala, are iconic symbols of Kochi, while the Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace) is an excellent example of Kerala architecture with colonial influences. The Dutch Cemetery is a historic reminder of the colonial past.Take a walk along the seaside and visit the Bishop's House Road, Union Club building, and Santa Cruz Basilica. Explore the spice and vegetable markets, immersing yourself in the local flavors and aromas.Later, visit the Ernakulam Shiva Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple’s presiding deity faces the Arabian Sea, a rare sight in Shiva temples, and is believed to be self-existing (Swayambhoo).In the evening, enjoy a Kathakali performance, a famous classical dance form of Kerala known for its elaborate costumes and storytelling through dance and music. You will also witness the ancient martial art form of Kalarippayattu, considered one of the oldest combat systems in the world.

Day 17: Houseboat Excursion
After breakfast, proceed for a houseboat excursion to Alleppey (approx. 2-3 hours).Check-in to the traditionally decorated houseboat by 1:00 PM and enjoy a scenic cruise with lunch. As you float along the serene backwaters, marvel at the Chinese fishing nets, lush paddy fields, rustic villages, and swaying coconut groves. The houseboats (Kettuvalloms) are traditional Kerala-style boats offering comfortable accommodations with meals served onboard.After the relaxing houseboat experience, return to Cochin.

Day 18: Colombo
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Cochin Airport for your flight to Colombo.Upon arrival at Colombo International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is at leisure to relax.

Day 19: Dambulla
After an early breakfast, check out and depart for Pinnawala, located about 88 km from Colombo (approx. 2.5 hours).Pinnawala is home to the renowned elephant orphanage, where you can observe elephants up close. The best times to visit are during feeding and bathing hours. Capture unforgettable moments as the elephants are taken to the nearby river for their daily bath.

Day 20: Dambulla
After breakfast, depart for Sigiriya, just 16 km from Dambulla (approx. 30 minutes).Climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This ancient citadel, built on a giant rock, was once the pleasure palace of a king turned fortress. Marvel at the rock frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' and explore the surrounding gardens.After visiting Sigiriya, proceed to Polonnaruwa (approx. 2 hours). This ancient city, once the capital of Sri Lanka, is another UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the ruins of the Royal Palace, the Gal Viharaya with its Buddha statues, and other significant sites such as the Shiva temple and Parakrama Samudra tank.Return to your hotel in Dambulla for the night.

Day 21: Dambulla
After breakfast, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage site. The temple complex, dating back to the 1st century B.C., features magnificent cave paintings and over 150 statues of Lord Buddha.In the afternoon, head to Minneriya National Park for a Jeep Safari. This wildlife sanctuary is famous for its large gatherings of elephants, often referred to as the largest elephant gathering in the world. In addition to elephants, the park is home to herds of deer, a variety of bird species, and other wildlife.
